This April, Caribbean artists have a range of exciting opportunities to expand their practice, gain international exposure, and access funding. From fully funded residencies to international competitions and grants, here’s what’s open this month.


Exhibitions


Caribbean Creatives Exhibition

Annual exhibition showcasing Caribbean and African diaspora visual artists. Early submissions are encouraged due to limited space.

  • Deadline: April 26, 2026

  • Location: Urban Art Gallery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Caribbean Brushstrokes

An open invitation for Caribbean artists to share evolving practices and perspectives. The initiative supports regional exchange and visibility for artists across borders.

Deadline: Ongoing

Location: Barbados

Eligibility: Caribbean artists across the region and diaspora

Submission: Practice summary, artist statement, contact info, and work links to info@caribbrushstrokes.com.​


Residencies


A fully funded residency supporting underrepresented artists from Latin America, the Caribbean, and diasporic communities. The program offers research, mentorship, and engagement with the UK art scene.


  • Deadline: April 6, 2026

  • Duration: 12 weeks (Sept–Dec 2026 or Jan–Mar 2027)

  • Award: Flight, visa support, accommodation, £40/day stipend, £1,200 materials budget, transport

  • Eligibility: Caribbean and Latin American artists, including diaspora in the U.S.


Designed for painters, this fully funded residency provides studio space, community engagement, and exhibition opportunities.


  • Deadline: May–June 2026 (Fall 2026 cycle)

  • Duration: 3–4 weeks

  • Award: Flights (reimbursed), accommodation, €300/week stipend, studio, exhibition

  • Cost: $25 application fee

  • Eligibility: Open internationally


Located in a historic Georgian house by the Dissour River, this artist-run residency is perfect for creatives working across craft, photography, drawing, film/video, mixed media, painting, and sculpture.

  • Deadline: Ongoing

  • Eligibility: International


A process-focused residency in a historic studio surrounded by nature. Ideal for painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, film/new media, and drawing.

  • Deadline: Rolling; 2027 applications reviewed April 2026

  • Eligibility: International

  • Fee: No application fee


Competitions


An international open call celebrating the intersection of football and visual art. Shortlisted works will tour exhibitions in Sheffield and Manchester and appear in a fully illustrated catalogue. Artists may submit up to four works.

  • Deadline: April 7, 2026

  • Entry Fee: £15–£45 (depends on the number of works)

  • Prizes: £5,000 (1st), £2,000 (2nd)

  • Eligibility: Artists 18+ working in two-dimensional or moving-image media


Grants


Supports painters, sculptors, and artists working on paper based on financial need and professional exhibition history.

  • Deadline: Rolling

  • Award: Up to $50,000 for one year

  • Eligibility: International


One-time financial aid for unforeseen emergencies such as fire, flood, or medical costs. For mature artists with at least 10 years of professional practice.

  • Deadline: Ongoing

  • Grant: Up to $15,000 (typical $5,000)

  • Eligibility: International painters, sculptors, and printmakers
