A cultural festival of murals, music and creative community returns for its fifth edition
This November, Puerto Rico will once again host Festival Color Caribe, a vibrant three-day event celebrating Caribbean identity through visual arts, music and intergenerational community programming. Now in its fifth year, the 2025 edition will take place from 28 to 30 November at Parque Agroturístico El Dorado in the town of Dorado, situated along the island’s northern coast.
Bringing together artists, musicians, families and cultural practitioners from across the Caribbean region and diaspora, Color Caribe has become one of Puerto Rico’s most distinctive open-air festivals.
What to Expect in 2025
Live Murals in Nature
At the heart of the festival are its signature large-scale murals, painted live throughout the weekend on repurposed shipping containers and built structures across the park. These works remain on-site after the festival, turning the green space into a semi-permanent public art gallery that evolves with each new edition.
For 2025, organisers are curating an expanded line-up of artists, including returning Puerto Rican muralists and international guests from Latin America, the French Caribbean, and beyond. The mural programme highlights themes of Caribbean heritage, ecology, folklore and identity.
Three Days of Music
The festival’s live music programming will span multiple genres, bomba, reggae, indie, Caribbean fusion and alternative Latin sounds, with day-to-night performances from both established and emerging acts. Previous years have featured names such as Fiel a la Vega, Rawayana, Los Cafres and PJ Sin Suela.
In 2025, the festival's Road to Color Caribe talent development initiative will once again offer new musicians from around Puerto Rico the opportunity to perform on the main stage.
Art and Culture for All Ages
Color Caribe is known for its inclusive and family-oriented ethos. The Color Caribe Kids section features creative workshops, theatre, storytelling and circus acts. Children are invited to engage directly with the arts, while older visitors can take part in talks, interactive installations and artisan markets.
Plans for 2025 include an expanded children’s zone, partnerships with local arts institutions, and mentorship opportunities that allow art students to assist visiting muralists during the festival.
Commitment to Sustainability
Since 2024, the festival has partnered with environmental groups to implement a site-wide recycling programme, with the aim of becoming a zero-waste event. In 2025, this commitment continues through eco-conscious design elements, reuse of materials, and public programming focused on environmental awareness and sustainable creative practices.
New Additions for 2025
Cultural Panels and Conversations: A new series of discussions on Caribbean visual culture, identity, and urban arts practice.
Expanded International Participation: Artists and musicians from neighbouring islands and diasporic communities will be more prominently featured.
Artisan and Maker Market: A curated marketplace of handmade crafts, independent publishers, fashion, ceramics and food.
Legacy Murals: Select 2025 murals will be preserved as part of a growing collection that positions Dorado as a year-round cultural destination.
Why It Matters
Festival Color Caribe is more than a weekend event, it is an ongoing project of cultural visibility, collaboration, and creative place-making. It provides a free, accessible space where the richness of Caribbean expression can be seen, heard and celebrated.
The festival encourages visitors to experience Puerto Rico as part of a wider Caribbean story, one in which visual culture, music and community life are intimately intertwined.

Final Word
As it prepares to mark five years of artistic exchange, Festival Color Caribe 2025 offers something rare, a space where Caribbean identity is not only celebrated but continuously reimagined. In the murals, the rhythms, the dialogues and the shared laughter, the Caribbean reveals itself not as a single story, but as a spectrum of voices and visions.
This November in Dorado, the Caribbean paints its own future, boldly, publicly and in full colour.
